Rain, Rain Go Away!!

BOY, did we get the rain last night and today. It was terrible, and there was flooding in places. My back yard looked like a river at one point during the heaviest of rain...but ran off nicely, once it stopped raining. (the heavy rains/winds back in March destroyed my pool that sat in the same place as the water flowed so fast and heavy this morning...lesson learned, but we were in such a drought for MANY years that we really didn't know the water channeled that way and could do such damage, we MISS our pool terribly, and are still deciding on replacing (in a different spot of course.)

I was suppose to pick my best friend up for lunch/shopping this morning around 11 (however, to do so I would have needed a boat...LOL!!!), so we decided to wait until the weather improved, and finally got to leave around 12:30. We had a nice lunch at Chili's and did some shopping. I found some new bees/beehives to add to my ever-growing collection. YAY!!!! I bought 3 Xmas gifts, YAY again! I didn't buy any stash. I decided to wait until I get to Pigeon Forge in 2 1/2 weeks, and stash shop in a shop I have never had the pleasure of patronizing. (I do have an order at my LNS that is due in any day though)

I stitched on Angel of Winter, but will wait to share my progress when there is more of it. If not this rotation, the next.
Speaking of Angel of Winter, does anyone have any tips for working with the wisper floss? TIA!

I received a nice surprise today from a dear friend. She found this bench at a flea market and bought it for me. I don't collect roosters, but I LOVE this piece. It needs some work and cleaning done to it, but then it will be a special addition to my home. I think I know the perfect place for it when it is cleaned up. :) :)

Thanks for the comments on Bird Bath. I appreciate them so much :) Zohrah, I am a bird lover, we feed them, record them and enjoy watching them so much...but I didn't like working on this piece at first, but now I am finding myself enjoying it more.

Paula, hi there :) Good to see you again. I hope your computer woes are gone :) :) :)
As for missing the Bees/hives, a fellow blogger has volunteered to create a template with Bees for a theme for my Blog, isn't that wonderful?????...WOOHOO, am I ever excited.

hugs to all :)

Finally found some time to work on "Jazzin"

up my blog a bit. :) Still a work in progress :) AND, I would still prefer something with bee/beehivey backgrounds and colors.....SIGH!

Today's WIP was Bird Bath. I stitched in the Blue bird today. I am happy with my progress :) Considering I have been "goofing" around online a better part of the afternoon/evening.

I am getting excited about the Celtic Winter SAL that Carol is organizing. I can't wait to stitch with these ladies :) I need to decide on a fabby. Suggestions would be MOST welcomed.

Thanks so much for the comments on and The Animals Came :) They ARE appreciated :)

Hugs :)

Back to normal....almost :)

I continued to stitch on And the Animals Came today. I had hoped to make much more progress this time on this one, than I actually did. Not feeling well over the past week contributed to my not stitching much, but any progress is progress :) :) :)
I worked on the Lion and Lioness this go round.

I am feeling almost back to normal :) YAY! And thanks again to you all for your concern, you make a girl feel special :)

Can you believe that June is almost over? Where does the time go??? WOW!

After seeing Karen's
WONDERFUL finishing, she really does BEAUTIFUL finishing work.... I am really itching to get out a few pieces and finish them.

AND, if that's not enough, Carol's pretties from the garden (and boy does she have some lovely flowers!!! I have SO enjoyed seeing them, when she shares) scream to me to get outside and enjoy my own pretties :)

Have a great week all :)

hugs :)

Thanks, all for your comments on the

November Snapper. I appreciate them :)

My son made it to Louisiana safely. He arrived last night about 7:15 pm. Thank you for your prayers for him :)...You're the BESTEST!

I am feeling some better. Not 100% yet, but getting better. Thank you all for your well wishes :)

I haven't stitched much today. I am working on And The Animals Came, but will not post a pic tonight. If I make some progress tomorrow, I will post it. I wish I had all of my WIP's finished, so I could start some new ones...LOL! I am getting that "itch" to start some new projects, but I really want to finish what I have in the works right now. (of course if I join in SAL's, I will be starting new projects....hmmm, I think that makes it ok! hehe!!)

I have several decent size pieces of 14 ct. aida fabric, in several different colors, if anyone is interested. They are FREE to a good home :) Just let me know :)

Paula, I am looking forward to hearing from you :)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend my friends :)

hugs!

Small finish :)

I stitched November Twirls snapper today. One more to go and the stitching on my snapper project will be completed...then I will have to do the quilting on it for the wallhanging.

I am still not feeling well, and I am thinking that if I don't improve in the next day or so, I will go to the doctor.

My son leaves tomorrow morning about 5 am for his trip to Louisiana. Prayers for his safe travel would be MOST appreciated.

Thanks to everyone that posted to my blog yesterday, and your opinions on the subject of the "dated" designs.

hugs :)

Are there any types of designs that you won't stitch?
Absolutely! As I guess is the answer with most stitcher's. We all tend to stitch designs that attract us to them. I don't have a long list of things I wouldn't stitch, and if someone would love something as a gift, that I wouldn't ordinarily stitch, I would stitch it for them.....same with RR's and exchanges, sometimes you have to stitch things you aren't that wild about. I enjoy a huge expanse of designs and designers, from simplistic to very detailed....and all that's in between, but I still find designs that I would never stitch.

I don't know what's wrong with me. I just have not felt good in several days. I haven't even picked up a needle and that is VERY unlike me. I am thinking of maybe stitching a quickie just to pick my spirits up.

Yesterday was our monthly Red Hatters meeting, I had a great time, but just didn't feel well. When I got home from that, I mostly lay around the rest of the day, and have yet to accomplish anything today :( You gotta know me to know that is way off the "norm" for me.

Carol, I chose the Solos Evenweave/Linen 24 x 27, that is shipped on the third Friday of each month. Is that the same as your choice?

Shantti, thank you for your comment on Bloom :) I appreciate it!

"When is a design TOOOOO old to stitch?"
In conversation with a friend, the subject of older charts came up....actually she was looking for a chart that she liked that was older, and contacted the designer about acquiring the chart, and the designer was actually quite taken back with the fact that she was looking for a much older chart. If I recall, it was from the 80's, and OOP. And the designer kinda made her feel like nobody stitches anything that "dated"....NOW, my mind has been going on that one, and I am wondering when all my charts would be considered "dated" and believe me, I have PLENTY of charts to consider (and I don't see myself getting them all stitched in the next several years, before they become "dated"). I understand that our tastes change, and we may go through our stash and wonder why we ever purchased a given chart, but who's right is it to tell us something is TOO dated to stitch? ESPECIALLY if we as stitchers like a dated chart and want to stitch it. To me, that is like finding a stitched antique sampler at a yard sale/flea market, estate sale....and passing it by, because it is "dated"....come on, that is one of the characteristics of stitching Samplers, isn't it???? That one day they will be valuable because of their age???? I just CANNOT see myself taking all the L&L's or any other large project for that matter and tossing them out, because they are "dated"....that is when they become heirlooms. That is when they are sought after by those that know what they are looking for. I am not saying that charts do not become dated, because as with everything in life they do.(I understand that some of us will feel designs are too dated and others will find appeal in those dated designs!!!-I am not disputing someone's right to personal opinions on when something is too dated to stitch or when it isn't, but I think the STITCHER makes that choice) I say if an older chart/design appeals to you GO FOR IT, no matter how old it is.

What about you guys? Do you bypass designs because of their age???

Enjoy your day :)
hugs :)

Happy Birthday, Bill and Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!

Today is a big day for our family. Today is my son's 22 B-day and my parents 34 wedding anniversary. I have a party set up tonight at the Pizza Inn, with lot's of friends coming to join in our celebration! It should be much fun! It will also be a "farewell" (for awhile) to my son, as he is leaving on Friday of this week, to go to Louisiana for the rest of the summer, with his girlfriend. He will return in time to finish his last 3 months of college.

I haven't stitched in a couple of days, yesterday was a big day for us as well, with Father's Day, and I was just so tired last night, that I felt I wouldn't do my stitching justice, so I opted to read a book instead. I have been in the yard all morning, so still no stitching. I think I am in a finishing mood though, so I may take out a few stitched pieces and see about finishing them off. (of course, some of the stash I bought on Friday is REALLY calling to me)

It's less than a month, until my best friend and I take our 5 day trip to Pigeon Forge Tenn. I have did a search for cross stitch shops to visit and have found 3 that are close enough to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, that we can easily visit them. I am getting very excited and so looking forward to the time away.

I received my June Silkweaver Solo today. It is a nice earthytone color this go round, which I don't mind, as I tend to lean towards those colors more often than not. It almost reminds me of the fabby I am using for my snapper project, but I think this one has more "tones" to it. I didn't press it before sharing.

Thanks for the comments on The Flower Garden Fairy, you guys are sweet and I appreciate you taking time to stop by :)

Have a great day :)
