LOOK what my grandmother found in her closet for me...I have been collecting these for awhile now-but have purchased them all in antique and thrift stores. THIS one is so special as it actually belonged to my grandmother and she has had it about 50 years as best she can recall-she is now 88 :). It's orange because one of the grandchildren...MAYBE it was me, painted it when we were little and added a ladybug sticker on 2 sides :) That's ok-I will strip it and fix it right up :) I can't believe she found this and knew I would want it :) I don't have one this tiny either so it is a double treat :)I am THRILLED and can't wait to use it in my stitching :)
Country Stitches has SEVERAL finishes that use the old oil cans for those that are not familiar :)
I have no stitching to share right now as I have spent the day with my mother/grandmother :) I DO hope to pick up my stitching later today though :) Again it will probably be a giveaway as I am just running out of room for things-and I can't stop stitching :) and I love giving :) :)
Myra, Jan (scoob) and Andrea...stitchy gifts went out to you this morning :) Please do let me know when they arrive :) Andrea, I forgot to put a card/note in with yours :(
Yes, LindaK you can take part in TGPC 2010-happy to have you :)
Thank you so much for your sweet visits :) They mean so much to me :) Please come again :)
hugs and love from SC :)

Hi Becky, that is too cute! Looks good with your decor...funny, I have one that I bought as a girl when I walked to the hardware store up the street from my granny's..not orange though. I'm just wondering how you're going to use it in your stitching???

Not sure I could get so excited by a find like that but I'm glad you are so delighted with it. Can't wait to see it after your transformation. I never knew anyone who collected these.
Have a great weekend!
How fun for you that your grandmother found this for you! It fits perfectly right now with your fall decor. Can't wait to see what you do with this one!
Have a stitchy weekend!
Wow, what a special find from your grandmother. I'm sure you will find something spectacular to use this as a finish. I can hardly wait:)))
Thanks for sharing.
That is such a cute one! Love it. And it being your grandmothers makes it so much more special. I hope you show it again after your strip it.
I didn't know what it was until you said what it was! I'm glad that you have it, though - being your grandmother's, as you said, makes it just that more special.
Ohhhh Becky now that is a treasure. I went antiquing all last weekend and couldn't find even one of those. But the hunt continues because I have a stitched bird that needs a perch. :)

Oh, how very special Becky! I love it! Do you remember painting it when you were little? That's too funny! I like it orange, but know it's going to be great once it's stripped down too :)
Ooh, can't wait for the prize...how exciting! Thank you so much!
Have a great weekend! Can't wait to see what you stitch up next!

DH lays claim to all the oil cans in this house. Maybe I can sneak one past him. I can't wait to see how you're going to use it.
Thank you Becky for letting me join in the Pumpkin Challenge...I may not be able to finish them off like I want to due to my broken leg but at least I can get them stitched.
Thank you so very much...I am so happy...
Becky, I love your blog and visit everyday to see what you've stitched. I'm slow with my stitching but you always inspire me to try harder. I have several pieces stitched but I haven't finished them, sort of nervous about how they'll turn out. Thanks for the inspiration. Dawn
Such a cute story behind the orange oil can! I'm sure you'll have something stitched up with it in no time!
It sounds like you had a really special day Becky. I love the little oil can and even like it in orange - it fits the season for now. :o) I will let you know the minute my prize gets here. I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
I'm so excited for you; I agree with Myra that you might even want to leave as-is just for this season. :)
Great find! Can't wait to see what you do with it!
How wonderful that your grandmother found such a treasure and shared it with you! Have fun re-making it into something special.
What a wonderful little treasure from your Grandmother!
Hugs
Aweesome! I love the patterns from Country Stitches that utilize these old oil squirters. Can't wait to see your finished project :)

Please, please think again about changing this georgous piece! Surely you want to preserve the memory of that little ones love for Grandmother...
That's so funny! I like the things "with history".
Can't wait to see how you change it.
