Leaping Reindeer

Can you say HARD on the eyes??? WOW! BOY, my eyes are not what they used to be...even with my glasses!!! I thought at first I may not be able to stitch this after getting started on the first few stitches. This one was a challenge to my eyes! I am so glad I don't have to stitch on dark colors all the time :) It may have been a challenge, but I love the way it finished up-it was definitely worth the eye strain and a few words I may have muttered under my breath!!!. I decided on a pillow finish and I had these crystal snowflakes for some time now that I have wanted to use so I substituted them for the stitched snowflakes. Some ribbon and a button for some character :) This is another Christmas gift that will go out :)

This is so cute..how fun to pop in on you and see the start of the Christmas season!! :)
I hear you about the eyes, the older I get, the smaller the holes get. :(
Do you know of an on-line tutorial for how to make these pillow finishes? I am SO in love with this finish and would love to make some of these for gifts. Thanks for any help. :)

It's beautiful! You're so right about stitching on dark fabrics -- gets harder with each passing year. Sigh.

BEEutiful, Becky! I have a very hard time stitching on the darker colors, too, so tend to avoid them, but boy this one turned out great! I love the finish, too. L(

The word ELEGANT jumped in my mind when I looked at this. Put some warm tea bags on your eyes and pat yourself on the back because this was well worth it.

I LOVE the way this one turned out! The fabric/ribbon matches perfectly w/the design! How cute and festive!

Have you ever tried using a white towel or pillowcase on your lap, under something dark when you're stitching?? It really helps to see the holes better. But I truly know what you mean about eye strain.

Dark fabric is tough on which to stitch but every piece I see on dark fabric is gorgeous. This one is no exception and the pillow finish is perfect.

So cute! Dark fabrics are challenging, aren't they? I've stitched a couple of things on black recently, and it's really hard to see the holes, even in broad daylight!

Another beauty, and you were so patient to have stitched on the dark green, I dont think my eyes would have held out. I had to stitch on a fluro green coloured evenweave once in a round robin and I kept getting all cross eyed and headaches from it, that was a nightmare.
Hugs to you

All your trouble was definitely worth it for this one. It's gorgeous! The colours compliment each other so well.
I tend to avoid dark fabrics as well. I just strain my eyes too much.
Is this an older chart Becky? I haven't seen this one before and I really like it. Thanks for sharing your finish with us!

Gorgeous! Love the finish! Congrats on making your goal as well.

How pretty! I'm glad I'm not the only one who avoids dark fabric! I stitched a stocking for my dd on it a year or two ago and - my word! - I thought it would drive me crazy! Stitching different shades of dark blue on dark blue fabric was maddening. It turned out so pretty, though, that I'm glad I kept going. And yours is just lovely, as well!!!! :-)

Blessings!

Tricia
