I love Prairie Schooler AND

I "heart" finishing work !! Doing the finishing on this brought me so much joy last night (I have been having some trouble sleeping this month and have been up much later than I normally am-I sure hope that changes SOON!!) I wanted something a bit different so I went with a closed pocket pillow finish. The pillow can hang from a peg or doorknob or be placed in a basket for displaying. I used a wonderful finishing fabric that matches the colors in the design so well. I added some buttons to the flap of the pillow and a gingham ribbon. I love the way it turned out.

Design: Winter (Country Seasons)
Designer: The Prairie Schooler
Fabric: 32 hand dyed Vanilla by BeckySC
Fibers: DMC
Date Started: 1-20-2011
Date Finished: 1-24-2011

Still stitching on Halloween Cove. I am on the last page and loving every stitch!!

Thank you all so much for your kind comments and for letting me know it's OK not to feel like blogging or commenting. I don't usually like to post anything like this BUT I had a bad experience this week with a couple of readers... In my 12 years online I have met so many wonderfully giving and talented, friendly and REAL people that I consider friends and just wonderful people to be in contact with- BUT among the good has to come the bad I guess...I think that must be a prerequisite of life. I have found some people are so superficial/fake and just down right thoughtless and I ran into that again this past week. After I posted my previous post it wasn't long (I am talking within an hour of posting) until I received emails asking me "when will you be sending out gifts to your readers again?"...REALLY???? Are you serious??? What part of our tragedy did you not get??? I WILL be sending out many gifts to my readers throughout 2011...but not to that kind of reader...WOW!!!

I am off to a birthday party for the SWEETEST nephew. What's more fun than a birthday party, FAMILY and birthday cake ?? PRICELESS!!!!

Take care and wishes for a lovely week ahead!
love and hugs from SC,
BeckySC

Your PS finish is very pretty!

I will never understand how some people behave. I'm sorry you were hurt so badly by thoughtless e-mails and such. It's very obvious you many 'real friends' - focus your energies on them. :-)

Oops - failed to mention that I love your new finish - very sweet.

Oh Becky, the news coverage of your niece broke my heart. It brought tears to my eyes reading it and seeing the devastating damge.
I am sorry some people are so thoughtless. And I must say that was very thoughtless. I hope you know not all of us are like thatand I hope you can overlook those type people.
Your finish is simply amazing. I love everything about it.

Unfortunately, your giving nature will attract thoughtless people. I'm so sorry you have to deal with such -- it's sad.

I love your PS finish! Your stitching and finishing is wonderful as always! Have fun at your nephew's birthday party!

Like you I always try to see the good in people, but sometimes there are a few bad apples in the bunch and they "stink" Good thing emails and blogs come with delete buttons LOL

I have to say I am envious of your finishing skills, I adore the way you finished this one. I am getting the hang of finishing just need to stitch more so I have more things to finish :0)

I hope you have a lovely time at the birthday party.
Many (((hugs)) and many happy stitches!

Your new finish is gorgeous, and I hope you get much enjoyment from it. Sharing is something you do from your big heart, and for people to expect - no, demand - that you do so is way beyond my imagination. Please try to block those comments out of your mind, and just feel the support your true follower friends send out daily. Hope the birthday party brings you laughter and confirmation that life is truly good.

Oh brother, some people are really missing the emotional chip in their genetic makeup I think! I'm so sorry you had to be subjected to that.

I've had emails from people asking about what I used to stitch this and that or just get information. Sometimes it's almost a demand. When I reply there's never a thank you. I know it's nothing like your circumstance but I count those amongst the thoughtless people out there!

On a happier note, I love your finishing on the PS pillow. Your Halloween piece is coming along nicely too.

Carolyn said...

It takes all kinds, and I chalk those people up to miserable individuals. I would bet they don't give as generously as you do. But to EXPECT is beyond rude.

I love your PS stitching and finish. You come up with some of the coolest ideas. This is definitely one of them!
Your Halloween stitching is coming along nicely, too. I owe you an email and will try to get to that today. We've had the crud here, both of us, and I haven't picked up a needle in over a week. Hopefully that will change today.

Love and hugs...

What a bee-utiful finish! I've been thinking of something a little like this, but seeing it all done up is so inspiring! I hope you won't mind if I imitate it at some point. :D

What a awful story! When I hear that someone said that to you I start thinking about possible excuses--I thought, "Maybe they are 'ESL'?!" I'm trying to think of ANY excuse for it to be a misunderstanding, like maybe they don't understand the tough experience you are in right now. Or maybe they don't understand that you announced that it will be 2011, and not even one month of it is gone!

I can't say that I would never think of an IRL friend who said they were going to be doing something in a certain year, "How 'bout a little follow-through!?" with an eye-roll. BUT it would have to be something more urgent, AND they would have to have a history of letting people down. And it would have to be December of the year they promised!

If someone suggested to me that you are a person who lets others down I would laugh in their face! I think you are a very generous person, to the point that you want to share the craft with friends outside your hometown circle--and you planned certain specific details in 2010 for how you'd do that in 2011. WAY against your will, so far things are not working according to that "Generosity Plan for 2011". This doesn't change the fact that you are one of the most generous people I've had the joy of meeting, or that you will still give to others.

It's a big wish from me to hope that anyone who would question you on this is having an misunderstanding of language, rather than a total lack of heart.

P.S. I don't sleep well in the winter, either; I'll add you to my prayers for this, though.

I think you are right Becky. Most people will be true and kind, but like Margaret said, your giving nature will attract thoughtless people.

Your latest finish is lovely!

Yet another gorgeous finish Becky! That backing fabric is just perfect... Thanks for sharing! I always love seeing your posts in my reader. I am sorry that you received comments from ignorant people. You are one of the sweetest bloggers! Stay the same...

I love your PS finish, and the way you finished it compliments it wonderfully.
I can't believe people are so uncaring and selfish to badger you about sending them gifts!

Fortunately the selfish people in life are on the minority side, they are just all about themselves and have blinkers on when it comes to empathy. Take care Becky. One step at a time : ))

I really do not understand some people, are they for real????

Love your PS pillow, I wish I was just half as talented as you are!x

Still praying for you and yours, you all still have a long way to go in the healing process, but what a great way to start with your nephews party!x

Lots of Love,

Suzanne xx

Jen said...

Just focus on healing and not worry about the noise. As my husband reminds me daily, if people are thoughtless it is there problem and not something I can change. You know what you and your family need right now and if some of the people in the blogosphere can't understand that, then it is really OK. Enjoy your hobby because it obviously is something that helps you heal. Enjoy the party and keep smiling. There are a lot of us out here in the blogosphere that think you are an amazing, generous person who constantly inspires us to enjoy stitching to the fullest.

The PS finish is lovely Becky; I'm glad you feel the joy of stitching again as it brings such calm to our lives. As for the people who just want your free stuff, well, I guess you would have to feel sorry for them that they are so thoughtless. However, some days it really is so hard to see the divine in everyone! At least we can always see it in you:)

*sigh* I am just shocked that people act that way. It's obvious you are going through a bad time yet all they are interested in are free items. It's terrible.

Sorry to hear about the tough time you're going through. Wonderful finish and great progress on your Halloween wip.

Becky - I am saddened that there are people out there who behave in this way. They are worth absolutely nothing. Sending you hugs. Your stitching is just lovely. Thinking of you xx

I too love PS and this one is great. The rudeness, lack of compassion, and sense of entitlement that some people (even in my own family) have nowadays is astonishing. Becky, as others have stated, you have a very generous heart and spirit and for others to try to take advantageous of that is just plain wrong!

you and yours are still in my prayers.

Unreal!! I'm so very sorry that you had to deal with such thoughtlessness when you have so much on your mind and such a heavy heart. Please remember that these bloggers are a minority, thank God. There are so very many of us who care very much about you despite the fact we've never met.

Your latest finish is amazing!! I love the plaid fabric, it highlights the stitching so well. And I love the idea of a hanging pillow. Too sweet!

Remember that the delete button works. Do NOT bother a moment with any of those bad people.

The most important thing right now is you and your family's mental health.

Glad to see you are stitching again. Good for the heart, and might put a smile on your face. And look how wonderful the result. Nicely done.

Best wishes to you and your family.

I love how you've finished the PS Winter piece, Becky--don't you just love that little man in the moon face?

I am so sorry to hear about the unbelievably thoughtless emails you've received. For the most part, I've found the blogging community to be welcoming and comforting, but there are always a few who think only of themselves...Perhaps your post will help them think about their actions and make some much-needed changes!

First of all what a stunning and unique pillow finish Becky!

Now I am completely astounded at the outright rudeness of that person, I wouldn't send that type of person anything either. Don't let a few rude people deter you from our wonderful community :)

Beautiful finish again, Becky! I am still praying for you and your family...and I won't comment on rudeness...just ignore them and keep up with your generous heart. I will give you peace.

I don't comment here much, but I'm a faithful follower. I just have to say that I find it absolutely ridiculous that someone would deem that an appropriate/kind/supportive/okay thing to email you at such a difficult time!
