2012 BAP Challenge...will YOU join the fun???

As you all know I enjoy hosting challenges that gets you all stitching. Please read the challenge info below and leave a comment ONLY if you wish to participate in the challenge.

The challenge:
Start and FINISH at least 1 large sampler (it doesn't have to be a sampler but MUST meet specifics required for challenge)in 2012.

The Design size must be at least 10 x 12 (that will roughly be in the neighborhood of 175 x 200 stitch count. The design can be larger but must meet the minimum requirement of 10 x 12. (if size differs due to stitching it over 1 but still meets the stitch count requirement that is acceptable)

You must sign up for the challenge ON THIS POST ONLY and you must give me the details of the design you are going to stitch for the challenge. Name, designer, stitch count (design size).

The design MUST NOT be started prior to January 1, 2012 and MUST be completed by December 31 2012. You MUST share your stitching progress with me. You can direct me to your blog when you have updated with a progress report on your BAP...or you can email me a picture-but I must receive updates on your project.

Those that complete the challenge will have their name added to a drawing for a $100.00 gift certificate from the ONS of my choice. Think of all the lovely new stash you can purchase at the end of the year :)

You will receive one entry per finish. If you are feeling ambitious and wish to stitch more than one design that meets the requirements of the challenge you will have an extra entry for each finish.

SOOOO, who's up for the BAP challenge? Remember to leave your comment here and give me the details of your project once you have made a decision.
I need at least 5 people to sign up for the challenge for me to host it!

Bee safe and have a wonderful New Years Eve for those celebrating it and wishes that 2012 holds many blessings for you my dear friends and readers.

hugs and love,
BeckySC

I like the sound of this challenge. I'll be starting Cirque des Carreaux by Ink Circles in January (247 x 185).

Technically mine won't meet the minimum size requirements because I've decided to stitch it over 1 on 25 ct lugana, but It does meet the stitch dimension requirements. I hope this might still qualify.

I won't be participating in this one but I wish everyone the best. Curious minds wanna know - what will Becky be starting? :o) I hope you and your family have a happy, healthy New Year!

Jackie said...

I'll be watching from the sidelines. I'm starting Ann Dale tomorrow but there isn't a chance in this world I'll finish it this year. That would be crazy! :) Cheering you all on - and like Myra I'm very curious to see what you'll be stitching Becky!

Rebecca said...

I am like sticheranon, how can I pass up this challenge. My piece I have decided on to begin stitching "next" year was actually decided the other day. It has been in my stash for a couple years and I even kitted it sometime this past year but that is as far as it got. Dug it out the other day. I think it meets the size requirements but will need to check as it is down stairs and I am up stairs. If it doesn't, I certainly have others I can do. I will get back tonight but please count me in as your third participant. This will be a good challenge to get me back to blog posting now that I am graduated with my Nursing Degree this past month.
I am curious too. What are you going to stitch, Becky? I am sure it will be wonderful

Mrs. GraceWorks said...

I'd love to do this, but I have a question for you Becky. I emailed you!

Hi Becky!

Count me in. I wanted to work on a BAP project this year, I just couldn't decide on which one. I've chosen "Keep Me Sampler" by Moira Blackburn Samplers.

http://www.moirablackburn.com/house/house_cart/2kms.htm

Another site said that it is 247H by 247W. That is the size stitched over 2 on 32 CT Linen.

Count me in! I just received a pattern for "Bridget Power Sampler 1840" by Of Female Worth. I need to hustle and order the fabric. I planned to start it, so maybe this fun challenge will give me the motivation to finish it in 2012. BAP? Oh, yes! stitch count - 338 x 241! I love so.. we'll see what happens! :)

Mrs. GraceWorks said...

OK, I'm in! My piece will be a Dimensions kit called
Cabin Fever.

Its stitch count is 298 x216 and I really want to get it done for my DH for Christmas.

Wish me luck! :)

Hi Becky,
Oh, please count me in - I would like to do the Quaker Christmas by Bygone Stitches - it is 320w by 205h. I have just ordered the pattern from 123 stitch and as I live in Australia I will probably not get it until the end of January (but maybe now that christmas is over it might come a little quicker). I hope that is okay that I might not be able to start it for a month.

So excited,

Hugs, Kaye xoxoxo

Oooooooh, I don't know about finishing but I was looking for an excuse to start Blackbird Designs Christmas Garden, slightly modified to change the bottom line of Christmas Garden to keep it a year round sampler. Stitch Count is 225W by 272H. More details will be on my blog when I start it - just trace my name back to my blog.

Jennifer said...

Wow! Now that is a challenge! I won't be participating since I promised myself minimum goals for 2012.....to just have fun.

Still, I want to wish luck to the challengers!

Bette said...

Ohhh, I want to join in. I have my BAP ready to go. But although I will be starting And they Sinned today, I don't think I will get it finished this year! Argh! And if I was not going to be starting that one, I had 2 others in mind.

I will join in, but I know that I am already out of any comp because this is one BAP!

Love to join this BAP Challenge. I will let you know once I have decided on which project.

Happy New Year to you and your family!

I am going to join in and stitch BBD Christmas Garden as well.....I am an hopeless blogger but his might just be the push I need to get my act together!

Rita E in AZ said...

I would like to join. My hopes are so high today so maybe I can finish the biggest project I could find in my stash. It's a Christmas Stocking by Stoney Creek - Wookland Christmas Stocking. It's probably not really a BAP by some definitions but I am a very slow stitcher.

Deb said...

I'm in - all I seem to pick up is BAPs. Not quite sure of my choice - maybe AAWFAA. I have to start it over due to technical difficulties (read I can't count), but I'll let you know for sure in a day or two.

Rita E in AZ said...

I would like to join the BAP project.
Mine is a Stoney Creek Woodland Christmas Stocking, which barely qualifies. I am a very slow stitcher but I do have high hopes right now of finishing this in 2012.
I hope I haven't left 2 comments - I do have a lot of trouble trying to leave a comment on blogs.

I am so in for this challenge! I'll be stitching an older free SAL. I *think* it was released in 2009? It's called "Grand Marquoir" and its by Isabelle Haccourt-Vautier, measurements are: 250 x 376 stitches.

This will be so fun to see everyone's different projects!

Melissa said...

Count me in, Becky! This should be fun! I think I will be starting on Christmas Garden too - I just need to get it kitted up!

Thanks for organizing this BAP Challenge!

I would love to counted in on the challenge. I'm not sure though if my project meets the requirements since I'm away from home right now and don't have the chart with me. I'm starting Paradis Perdu by A Mon Ami Pierre. I have a funny feeling the chart is 197 x 198 but I'll check when I return home in the new year and email you.

Rebecca said...

Well, Happy New Year to all.
I have found my BAP for the challenge I had to change from my original idea (it was not quite big enought). It is "Strawberry Sampler" by The City Stitcher. It is a chart that I have had for many years as I think it may even be oop now. The stitch count is 216 h by 189 w. So I would say this definately counts. I will be working it on 28ct platinum linen as the chart model was worked on that count. It states it measures 15.25 h by 13.5 w.
I had the chart just propted up in my kitchen on a cupboard for over a year just waiting to be done. It has my mother's initials on the chart and they are also part of my monogram since I was given my mothers' first name as my middle name. This chart has always had a found spot in my heart from the first day I spied it in my LNS. I am so excited that I will finially get it stitched. This will be great incentive for me. Thanks Becky.

Jennifer M. said...

Hello Again Becky!

I've decided to do a different chart than the one I said earlier today. I found another great design that would be easier on my pocketbook to do instead. ;)

It is Little House Neighborhood by Little House Needleworks. Stitch Count is 177 x 232.

I have plans, hopes, delusions, to stitch Ellen Maurer-Stroh's 2012 SAL project, Antique Sampler. The dimensions are 292 x 220 stitches, and the actual size will depend on the count of linen I get.

The 12 charts will be available monthly, so hopefully I will get part #12 in time to finish by 12/31

There are several other musts on my to-do list for this year, but I'm thinking that the challenge will spur me enough to get this one finished in time.

I just found this blog and challenge and I'm game to try it. Maybe also crazy!

I will attempt Halloween Eve by Blackbird Designs. It's 114 by 299 stitches. NOt sure if I will do 28 or 32 count yet. Now I need to look for fabric and threads in my stash.

I'll be stitching Paradise Lost by Plum Street Samplers, using 32 count linen, and cotton threads. Hope I can still sign up. Will begin this next weekend. It's 417 w x 190 h (stitch count) so it should be large enough. Thank you

Wonderful idea...of course I love BAPs! I will be stitching Quaker Floral Puzzle by Ink Circles. Already have a great start in the days since New Years...I had to work on the holiday, got a start the next day, then went to 2 stitching groups this week. Loving the pattern. I will be emailing you.

Hi! I'm Michelle. I would love to join your BAP Challenge. I am going to stitch Madonna and Child by Joan Elliott as seen on Cross Stitch Collection 203. I plan to give it to my mom on Christmas. It's the only pattern that we both liked. LOL. I will be doing it on 28 count and stitch over two.

If I finish this, I would start another one, this time a sampler. I've never done a sampler before (in fact, I've never stitched on anything but Aida)but I just love all the samplers I see. They seem daunting but I will give it a shot. I hope joining this will inspire me!

My blog is still in the works but will post an update soon! Is there a certain date when you need to post an update?

TTFN -- Tata for now!

Hi Becky,

I would like to participate, but since I'm still not sure which one to start, I'll give you a couple and let you know which one I finally chose afterwards.

Here goes:
* Christmas Garden - Blackbird Designs,
* Floral Sampler by Mariska Van De Casteele (Belgian designer - look at the website of The Stitch Company = 101,5cm x 76cm on 34 count)
* Quaker Christmas II (Songs of the Seasons) from ByGone Stitches = 17 x 25 inches on 28 count

Hope to write to you soon about progress on either of these pieces!

I will join! I'm a new reader and I love your blog so far!
Figured a challenge would be good to keep me going with this.
I've decided to stitch Shores of Hawk Run Hollow. The stitch count is something crazy like 370x280. Can't wait to get started but I haven't decided what count fabric I will be stitching on.
I don't have a blog so will be sending you emails.
Sending good thoughts for you and your family from Texas.

Hi,

Hopefully I am not too late, because I definitely would like to join the fun! The pieces are Chatelaine mandalas, Winter Knotgarden and maybe Summer Knotgarden. The sizes are 225x225, and I am planning to stitch them on antique white belfast. I will start them a little later, because I want to finish Autumn and Spring first. You can follow my progress on my blog, I will let you know about the updates! www.aginetblogja.blogspot.com

I hope that your mom is feeling better each and every day.

Hi Becky,
Hope I'm not a day late and a dollar short here. I started With Thy Needle & Thread's 'Be Kind & Be True' 5 days ago. The stitch count is 166x207 and I'm doing it on a piece of 28ct fabric. I am going to try to start a couple of the HRH pieces, as well, but will let you know if I'm successful. I do not have a blog, so I will e-mail you my progress.
Also, please don't think me 'stupid', but what does 'BAP' stand for?
Hope all is going well with your Mom. Continued good thoughts/well wishes go her way!

Hi Becky, I would like to join in the fun too if it is not too late! I had listed here that I would be doing Mary Wigham but I did start that on 12/31, so instead I will do the Elizabeth Hancock sampler by Little House Needleworks, which is 271 x 237, using crescent colors cotton. It will be on either 30 or 32 ct material, I am STILL waiting for everything to arrive but I will be as soon as it does!

Ok, I really wanted to do BBD Christmas Garden, but I started it a couple of days before the New Year so, of course, I have more than one BAP in my stash and just got Ann Dale by Shakespear Peddler, so that is what it shall be. I have all the supplies, but was going to put it on scroll bars, which I have never used, but wanted to try and need to get some velcro to hold it in place, which I am doing today so shall start it tomorrow. Stitch ct is 402x531, doing it on Lakeside Linens Vintage Pear 36ct. I fell in love with this when I saw the original at St Charles Celebrations last year. It is a beauty! Probably have not a chance in .... to finish it in one year with all the other stitching, but will give it my best shot.
Thanks for the fun challenge.
Will send you a picture in a week or so of my start, I work full time so it will be slow stitching and I don't have a blog.

Hello Becky! I would love to join your BAP Challenge. I placed my first stitch Thursday Jan 26, 2012 on my Ann Dale 1827: Big and Beautiful by Shakespeare's Peddler. I'm stitching on 40ct Vintage Pear (Lakeside Linens) stitch Count: 402 by 531. I finally decided to use silk threads recommended. This is my very first time stitching on 40ct linen ever (Yes I had panicked after a stitch test on my 40 ct fabric but then I calmed down and took out my hoop and started the design. Using a hoop made all the difference in the world for me) and using silk threads. The finished size will be 20" by 26 1/2". I love that you are offering this challenge for us because this way we all can encourage one another. I don't have a blog.
Thank you for your kindness, Annette - California

Hi Becky! I hope it's not too late to join in - I just saw this post. I started my biggest sampler on the 8th of February. When it's done, it'll be 21 x 16 inches. I'm stitching it to cover this giant pillow we have in the living room that I don't like. You can follow my progress on stitching-sarah.blogspot.com.

Much love,
