I love Prairie Schooler AND

I "heart" finishing work !! Doing the finishing on this brought me so much joy last night (I have been having some trouble sleeping this month and have been up much later than I normally am-I sure hope that changes SOON!!) I wanted something a bit different so I went with a closed pocket pillow finish. The pillow can hang from a peg or doorknob or be placed in a basket for displaying. I used a wonderful finishing fabric that matches the colors in the design so well. I added some buttons to the flap of the pillow and a gingham ribbon. I love the way it turned out.

Still stitching on Halloween Cove. I am on the last page and loving every stitch!!

Thank you all so much for your kind comments and for letting me know it's OK not to feel like blogging or commenting. I don't usually like to post anything like this BUT I had a bad experience this week with a couple of readers... In my 12 years online I have met so many wonderfully giving and talented, friendly and REAL people that I consider friends and just wonderful people to be in contact with- BUT among the good has to come the bad I guess...I think that must be a prerequisite of life. I have found some people are so superficial/fake and just down right thoughtless and I ran into that again this past week. After I posted my previous post it wasn't long (I am talking within an hour of posting) until I received emails asking me "when will you be sending out gifts to your readers again?"...REALLY???? Are you serious??? What part of our tragedy did you not get??? I WILL be sending out many gifts to my readers throughout 2011...but not to that kind of reader...WOW!!!

I am off to a birthday party for the SWEETEST nephew. What's more fun than a birthday party, FAMILY and birthday cake ?? PRICELESS!!!!

Take care and wishes for a lovely week ahead!

January...

has been such a long month for us...Obviously January has not been a good month for our family. Sadness still fills our hearts-but as life goes and days pass we continue on as is life.
Thank you all again for your many cards, words of condolence, and mostly your prayers. My inbox is overflowing-when I signed on tonight I have 278 emails unread. I doubt I will answer them all-but PLEASE know I appreciate each one. Per requests from family members I will not talk about the death of my niece or the fire any further but do appreciate your continued prayers for our family-they are very much still needed.

It has been difficult for me to find a routine again. I know that stitching has been a saving grace so many times in my life so along with prayer each day I have tried to turn to my stitching. I have not stitched as I am accustomed to but have been glad to have the avenue to be industrious and to occupy my hands and mind.
Have Ye Any Wool I stitched this one on a larger count and over 2 so I could finish it off onto one of the cutting boards that hubby cut out for me back in the summer. It turned out very nice.

Winter I have not decided on a finish for this one yet, but I am thinking the fabric I used as a backdrop in the pic will serve as finishing fabric. PS are always such a joy to stitch and I love how it turned out.

And a new start Halloween Cove I started this one yesterday.... It is such a fun stitch I can hardly put it down for any length of time. I changed out the called for fabric as well as fibers. I just love how it is turning out. I plan to stay with it until finished. I shouldn't have any problem doing that as it is stitching up so quickly and I am loving it. I think the fabric makes this one AWESOME!!

What's abuzz?

A Pillow to share :)
I took the beehive and flower motifs from LHN's Gentleness and stitched them for this adorable pillow. I just love the way it turned out. I used some antique lace, buttons, Gingham ribbon and some bee print for finishing.
I am having the BEST time stitching, creating and finishing gifts for my blog readers :) This one will be coming to live with one of you :)
The flowers are NOT as vibrant blue as they appear in the picture-they are a more toned down blue.

Another one flying off to a new home...

Oh, this turned out so cute. I wish you could all see it in person to see exactly what I mean. It's so simple yet looks awesome!! I stitched the original kit many years ago and made myself a needlebook-it was large as it was a Bent Creek Zippie kit and used 18 ct. linen. This one is SOOOO tiny compared to mine.
I finished it off a little differently. I wanted something simple but pleasing. I used some of the fabric from my Aunt's mother and some twine for a hanger. It will look adorable hanging from a knob or shelf board peg :). I honestly had the best time stitching and finishing this and it is done with LOVE :) :) :) I have a few people in mind for this one...just not quite sure yet who it will be going to live with :)
Guys..I take so many pictures hoping I get at least one good one in the bunch :)

For ???

This is my first piece going out to live with one of my readers :) I have a reader in mind but am wondering if she will like it...I finished it off as a pillow ornament that she can hang wherever she likes :) I used twine and wooden buttons to compliment the design along with a great homespun gingham fabric and a gingham bow.

Check out this amazing basket that my dear mother found for me on one of her consignment shop visits. She knows so well how I enjoy displaying my smalls around the house in baskets and any other ways :) Among stitching gifts for some of my readers :) I am going to work hard this year to fill this basket with small pillows.-most anyone knows I have a thing for pin pillows and small pillow finishes:) This basket is HUGE and Heart in the Garden will be the first pillow that goes into it.

I have lost my blog reading mojo. I haven't read blogs or commented on any (well maybe one or two) in quite some time (I am sorry for the lack of visits/comments to your blogs and I feel just awful about not visiting) and I just can't make myself sit at the computer and do so-I have no desire to be on the computer...I post my finishes as I know if I don't I will no longer have a visual record of my stitching recorded for reference and that's one of the reasons for my blog. I am guessing in time my blog reading mojo will return(gosh, I sure hope so!!)...until then please don't feel obligated to comment or visit-I don't blog for comments-though I truly enjoy hearing from you all and can't thank you enough for your sweet words :) I blog because I truly enjoy sharing my love of stitching with other like minded people :) I pondered turning my comments off until I got my visiting mojo back...but remembering I turned off comments once before and was bombarded with email to please turn them back on I decided to just leave them on.

Thank you all for stopping by.
Have a lovely upcoming week :)
hugs and love from SC :)
