Sampler Roundy

Let me just say that yesterday was a nightmare...our visitor was suppose to arrive in time for supper...BUT planes were grounded in our area due to dense fog (our travel to the airport was so nerve-racking to me-it was so foggy-i was a nervous wreck by the time we got home). SO, our visitor arrived after 10:30 PM. MAN, it threw my schedule way off as we did not eat supper until we got home from the airport. My body is not particularly fond of eating at that time of night-so needless to say I didn't sleep much last night....but today is another day and we are all settled in for a month long visit. I will go ahead and apologize now if I am VERY remiss in visiting your blogs for the next month as I can stitch and visit with our guest but being on the computer excessively while a guest is here I feel is rude. PLUS entertaining someone for a month takes some planning :) :) :) I will also be long in replying to email for the next month :) I am WAY behind on those already :(

So, here is Sampler Roundy all finished up and ready to go live abroad :) I do so hope the person I send this to will like it. I wanted to keep the "character" of the cheese box, so I forewent staining or painting it and left it natural. The label is still on the bottom as well. I think I will stitch this one again for another regular visitor to my blog and finish it in the same manner.

The box turned out beautifully. This gives me great inspiration, saving, every bit of packaging (like cheese and chocolate boxes) to turn them into stunning cross stitch objects.
Nice progress on your sampler.

What cute, cute fabric you used to line your round. It is wonderfully stitched of course but I love your finishing. You do such beautiful work.

Love the cheese box ~ and it fits perfectly on it too! Wonderful stitching & finishing as always :)

What a unique finish Becky! The fabric you used inside the box is fabulous. I also love how you stage your photos with so many interesting items around the finish. Those Valdani floss for example. This may be a dumb question but what are the items to the right of your finish?

Becky, what a day you had!!! I don't like driving in the fog either, very scarey!! But I'm glad your visitor arrived safe and well, and hope you manage to catch up with your sleep.
Enjoy your friends visit, a month is a long time, I'm sure you'll have a great time!!
The Sampler Round is perfect, love the fabric inside, whoever receives it will be so lucky, and happy!!
And AaHRH is looking good, maybe, just maybe when I've finished my WIP I might just get this one, it really does look stunning.
Just to let you know, Tweety Pie is coming on a treat!!!!
Have a great time with your friend.
Love and hugs to your Mom x

Beautiful finish, as always. You certainly have had a very busy start to the new year. At least not being on the computer as often will certainly give you a chance to destress. Having a visitor for a month can be a challenge as well as a blessing, so enjoy.
As another person said looking at different packaging in another light.
Prayers for you and your Mom.

You are so very creative. The box is beautiful.
I'm so glad you arrived back home safely after driving in that fog. Driving in that and pouring rain scares me too.

Becky - I couldn't wait to see that Brie box finished! What a great idea. I was just thinking about this with the little Laughing Cow Cheese Spread boxes. Although, they're not wooden and would only be good display pieces. This is so lovely. Thx for the idea. Love your other piece and so sorry your visit started off in the wrong direction. Hopefully you all will enjoy your company and forget about that nightmare drive.

What a wonderful surprise for someone. I don't think I have ever seen a cheese box? Hmm - will need to explore the grocery store a little more closely. It is a very cute finish and I love the lining fabric.

Enjoy your visitor and I bet you will make huge progress on your BAP.

Sue said...

Very nice finish! I went out yesterday and bought brie cheese (never had it before!) so I can do a project and use the box. Turns out the cheese is delicious so it worked well! I'm working on a big project, too, and think I will take a break for a little one. I see you do that. I think it's a good way to not get tired of one project.

Both very nice, Becky! Your overseas "fan" is sure to enjoy!

I agree that being on the computer when you have guests is rude. So we'll miss you, but we know it's just for a short time while you enjoy time with family and friends.

You will have a huge post of progress when you return and we'll be looking forward to that. :-)

Hi from Alaska,
I have a question. Do you put your work in a hoop or do you do it with the cloth unbound? Thank you for the inspiration. My e-mail is harmesd@yahoo.com. Love and hugs back at you!
