The Reveal....

Here's the little project I mentioned in an earlier post. We have searched with each visit to antique shops and consignment shops for an Antique Clamp but alas we had no luck in finding one. We even asked some of our favorite vendors to be on the lookout for them. SOOOO, a year later and no antique clamp to be had- hubby and I improvised. Here is my version of a clamp pincushion.
It is MOST, adorable :) It just makes me smile when I look at it.
This was a lot of fun to put together. I chose a Blackbird design as my stitched piece. I added some ricrac and a cream trim on top of that and of course....my signature gingham ribbon :) All you do is release the screw (the stitched piece turns for adjustments)place on the edge of your crafting table, sewing table or whatever surface you want to display the pincushion and tighten the screw. There you go-how CUTE and useful is that? :) I think it is so pretty and I hope one of you do as well as this is going to go in my RAK basket for one of my regular visitors :) There will definitely be MANY more of these in my stitching future :)

Designer: Blackbird Designs
Fabric 32 ct. Antique White
Fibers: GAST
Start Date: 3-1-2012
Finish Date: 3-1-2012

Hi Becky,
This is really something! I thought the Brie box was as unique an idea as one could come up with, but this is wonderful. You took a piece of plain metal and turned it into something truly beautiful!! Cudos to you and your endless talent.

We can sometimes find those antique clamps here in the UK but the price is astronomical. This is a great idea. There is that old saying isn't there 'necessity is the mother of invention' well, you have certainly been inventive with this cutie. Irene xxx

How sweet! Becky if there was a creative finish of the year award, I would nominate you. You always manage to think outside of the box with your finishing. You sure are lucky to have a creative husband too that does a good job helping you out. I wish my honey was like that. He just likes seeing the final result. ;)

Happy Stitching!

The design is lovely Becky. I'll have to take a look through the numerous antique shops here up North. This area is very famous for the Madison Bouckville Antique festival every August. As a result we have numerous antique shops near me. I'll take a look and see if I find any clamp pin cushions. I won't go until the weather gets warmer, but I'll let you know if I find any.

Brightest Blessings,
Beth

Becky,
That turned out perfectly! And how wonderful that your hubby helped with improvisation. I know I would never have thought of using a clamp, but while it's not "exact", it worked beautifully! Keep up the good work and keep your innovative ideas coming!
