Saturday...

Busy as a bee.....
We had enough tomatoes today to make 15 jars of salsa...

This is one of our favorites and we sampled the small amount left over and MAN is it YUMMY!!! I have a family member that always looks for this as his Christmas gift each year :)

And I picked a bushel basket of green beans this morning...

No stitching at all....but that's perfectly ok as you know I am loving the work that's taken it's place right now :) Every year I put my stitching on the back burner to fill our pantry :) If you want your garden to produce, you have to keep it picked and keeping it picked means canning and preserving and I don't waste anything from our garden :) We use it all....or I share with friends/family when our pantry is stocked :) I'll be back to my stitching in full swing soon-but until then I will put a stitch in here and there :)

Thanks for all your emails, visits and comments...SO appreciated. Please do come again :)
hugs and love from SC,
BeckySC

Those tomatoes look so good. I have never made salsa, yours looks great. Wish we had a garden, but too much shade. Love green beans too.We do have some tomato plants but they aren't producing too many tomatoes

I just love all that produce and the thought of stocking your pantry for the winter months. I've always wanted a garden, just never lived in a place long enough or with a suitable yard to have a garden.

Herb Window Garden is gorgeous and I can't wait to see how your SAL comes along. All your canned goodies look fabulous. You are a woman of many talents!

Nothing better than "fresh from the garden" this winter! And salsa is an all time favorite.
Have fun, it is a lot of work but sounds like you do enjoy it.

My goodness, Becky, what a bounty and you're just getting started I'm sure! Given how prolific you are with stitching, I should know you would be with preserving all the garden goodies! yum!

It all looks delicious Becky. I was taught from both of my Grandmothers to respect the food. Nothing goes to waste. Canning seem like an old art but You get the best rewards right from whats inside them. And by you preserving so quickly will taste all the fresher. Lovely job Becky. love Annette

Beautiful canned goods! Reminds me of growing up around my grandma and her canning. I remember how hot it was in her kitchen back then! No air conditioning!

Hello Becky!

Your salsa and green beans look beautiful and I am sure they taste fabulous, especially when everything in the grocery store in the winter is so bland. Having preserved green beans from my garden, I know how much work it is, but the feeling of satisfaction it gives you, when you stand back and look at what you have accomplished - just amazing!

I should learn to do that. I love salsa and could make pickled green beans, like my grandma. She also made her green beans spicy.

It all looks good enough to eat (especially the salsa)!! When the girls were young and I was home I used to make spaghetti sauce from scratch and we would eat it all winter. You are inspiring!!!

It is too bad canning and preserving are lost arts. But they take time which is a precious commodity. We do not even have red cherry tomatoes yet! But our first garden is pretty small. Baby steps... Hugs!

Wow! I've canned before so know this is lots of work....and well worth it.

Wow, you have busy! That is a ton of work. I used to can my own things for a few years and then I got lazy and stopped. But those canned things always taste the best!!

Your veggies look great! I'm growing a tiny garden for the first time this year, and it's nice to see what others are doing with theirs.

Wow, you are amazing. I need to come to your house to learn how to preserve our garden veggies.

Girl! I didn't even see yesterday's blog until now! Look at all the work! Just look at it! That salsa looks so delish & there's nothin like fresh green beans from the garden. So much better canned by a human than canned in a factory.

My husband would love the salsa. Is is hot or mild?

Becky said...

I can absolutely relate! There are few things as satisfying as eating and storing the fruits (and veggies) of your labor and savoring their deliciousness in mid-winter! The salsa looks yummy, yummy!

I sure do miss canning our home grown veggies. We did real well in NH soil, but we're still having a hard time working with this NC soil. Your beans and all look beautiful. Opening a jar of canned beans or anything in the winter is like opening a jar of sunshine.

I'm your newest follower. Love this blog. Mine is over at, Cross’N My Stitches Drop in sometime. Keep up the great blog girl.

I'm allergic to tomatoes, but I was wondering what you do with your beans to preserve them.

I usually just top & tail, cut them in half and then freeze them, but am very interested in other ways to use them.
