Saturday...

Busy as a bee.....
We had enough tomatoes today to make 15 jars of salsa...

This is one of our favorites and we sampled the small amount left over and MAN is it YUMMY!!! I have a family member that always looks for this as his Christmas gift each year :)

And I picked a bushel basket of green beans this morning...

No stitching at all....but that's perfectly ok as you know I am loving the work that's taken it's place right now :) Every year I put my stitching on the back burner to fill our pantry :) If you want your garden to produce, you have to keep it picked and keeping it picked means canning and preserving and I don't waste anything from our garden :) We use it all....or I share with friends/family when our pantry is stocked :) I'll be back to my stitching in full swing soon-but until then I will put a stitch in here and there :)

Thanks for all your emails, visits and comments...SO appreciated. Please do come again :)

My other passion...

Most all of you know how passionate I am about cross stitch (and usually only share about stitching on my blog)...but there is something else I enjoy...I am definitely in my element with this too :) I so enjoy veggie gardening and preserving from our garden. I have enough green beans for a canner full and there will be about 15 more bell peppers ready tomorrow for picking and cutting up to put in the freezer. The squash will end up on the supper table :) :) :)YUMMY!!!
We have tomatoes getting close to picking as well.
These beans are gorgeous. Only a few were stung up. Made my job easier :)

No stitching tonight...stringing and snapping green beans-but I had a good time anyway :)

Thanks for stopping by. Please do come again :)

Sampler Farm(ing) with a friend.... :) :) :)

This is my new start :) I am stitching this one with my dear friend Carolyn :) MAN am I going to need the magnification on top of my glasses as this has some over 1 on 40ct (my favorite count to stitch on but never stitched over 1 on 40ct.) I am loving it so far and looking forward to stitching it :)

Please celebrate with me...

Herb Window Garden is a wrap :) I don't know why I ever put it down as the backstitching was not even that bad and went fairly quickly. I love it-it's such a pretty, pretty design! Can't wait to find the perfect frame for it :) (all pics clickable) I can't thank you all enough for your sweet comments on it in the previous post :) !!

The dreaded "B" word....

I decided it was time to put some time into Herb Window Garden. I haven't touched it in 3 years....why you ask??? One word--Backstitch!!! That's been all that's left on this sampler since 2009 and once upon a time I didn't mind backstitch....but after discovering designs that look gorgeous without all the tedious backstitching I grew to avoid designs with backstitch--HOWEVER, I still love this design and I still want to hang it in my kitchen so my plan is to devote some time to it this week and hopefully make a big dent in all the backstitching. You can see where I stopped in 2009 here.

and this is what I accomplished so far today :) Not bad huh??

Fourth of July Stocking

I must offer a HUGE thank you to everyone that sent wishes/prayers/kind thoughts/cards for hubby. WOW! I have been overwhelmed with email about him. He is still in much pain (says he doesn't remember it hurting this much when he had the other side repaired...I keep reminding him that was 27 years ago....and he is not a spring chicken anymore)and we had a REALLY bad night on Thursday, with bleeding and pain but it was a better night last night. I hope each day shows signs of improvement. He still cannot get up or down without my assistance and I sure am feeling that-but I would do it every day if I had to. :) I just hope the pain subsides soon. I don't like seeing him in so much pain-it hurts my heart.

I started this one during his surgery (which was only to be an hour-but because they found 2 hernias when they got in it turned into 2 hours and 15 minutes...was I in a panic when it took that long with no word?? YES INDEED!!!) but I could not concentrate and my fingers didn't work right so I didn't get to stitch on it! I was able to stitch it yesterday while he rested.
The fabric I used in the photo will be the backing fabric. I will probably add a cuff to this one as I did Snowy Eve. I hope to be able to do the finishing soon as I want to hang this one on my Patriotic Tree.

It's time...

and your prayers and good thoughts would be so appreciated. It's here, hubby has surgery tomorrow (June 14th). Please remember hubby and his surgeon and the medical staff that will care for him tomorrow as he undergoes surgery. I'm a nervous Nellie...but that's just me, the worrywart :( !

I have stitched very little, but I did stitch and finish Tulip House Stitching companion over the weekend for dear Carolyn :) I hope you like it my friend :)
